A wedding is one of life’s great moments, a time of solemn commitment as well as good wishes, feasting and joy. St John’s Gospel tells us how Jesus shared in such an occasion at Cana, and gave there a sign of new beginnings as he turned water into wine. John 2:1-11
Why not have a traditional Christian wedding in a church with music, readings and bells?
Our churches, and in particular St Thomas’, Woodbury, and Holy Innocents’, Mount Peel, are beautiful buildings with great character which lend themselves to such a family celebration.
They vary in size from St Anne’s, Pleasant Valley, which seats 40 comfortably, to St Mary’s Geraldine, which can seat about 200 people.
• plenty of support as you plan your wedding
• help with the choice of music and readings
• an opportunity to discuss the challenges of marriage
• and most important of all, the Church gives you God’s blessing on your marriage.
A wedding may take place on almost any day of the year.
We are happy for someone else than our vicar, John Hayhoe, to be the marriage celebrant as long as that person is an ordained minister and a registered marriage celebrant
The first step in booking the wedding is to call or email John Hayhoe to make an appointment. (email@example.com)
We recommend a donation of about $400 to the parish to help cover our parish running costs and a donation to the people involved. Please discuss this with our vicar.
